Pediatric Cardiology in Yelahanka — Heart Screening & Evaluation for Children

Gp Capt (Dr) Kamal Kiran Yenamandra (Retd) is trained in Pediatric & Fetal Cardiology in addition to general pediatrics, and performs pediatric and fetal echocardiography in-house — giving Ananya Kidz & Family Multispeciality Centre a level of cardiac evaluation most general pediatric clinics in Yelahanka cannot offer directly, without needing an external referral for imaging.

What We Evaluate

  • Heart murmurs detected during a routine or well baby examination
  • Suspected congenital heart disease in infants and children
  • Breathlessness on exertion or during feeding
  • Poor weight gain or easy fatigability with a possible cardiac cause
  • Bluish discoloration (cyanosis) of lips, nails, or skin
  • Family history of congenital heart disease requiring child screening

Signs That Need a Heart Checkup

  • Lips or nails turning bluish during feeding or crying
  • Rapid or laboured breathing not explained by a cold or fever
  • Sweating heavily during feeds, especially in infants
  • Poor weight gain despite feeding adequately
  • Tiring noticeably faster than other children during play
  • Fainting spells or chest pain in an older child
  • A murmur noted by another doctor or during a school health checkup

Our In-House Evaluation Process

  • Clinical history and examination, including careful cardiac auscultation
  • Screening assessment for signs suggesting structural or functional heart concerns
  • Pediatric echocardiography performed in-house by the doctor, where indicated — no external imaging referral needed
  • Fetal echocardiography available for expecting parents referred for detailed fetal cardiac screening
  • Results explained directly by the doctor in plain language, in the same visit or a prompt follow-up
  • Coordination with a pediatric cardiac surgeon or specialist center for further management, if the findings require it

Parent Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

My doctor said my child has a heart murmur — is this serious?

Many childhood murmurs are “innocent” — a normal sound of blood flow that doesn't indicate heart disease. Some, however, need further evaluation to rule out a structural cause. A pediatric evaluation, and echocardiography if indicated, is the safest way to know which type your child has.

Does every heart murmur mean congenital heart disease?

No. Innocent murmurs are common in healthy children and often change or disappear with age. Only a proper clinical evaluation, and echocardiography where needed, can distinguish an innocent murmur from one linked to congenital heart disease.

My baby's lips turn bluish while crying or feeding — should I worry?

Bluish discoloration (cyanosis) during crying or feeding can be a sign of an underlying heart or breathing issue and should be evaluated promptly rather than observed at home.

Do you perform echocardiography at the clinic?

Yes. Pediatric and fetal echocardiography is performed in-house by the doctor, so most children needing cardiac imaging do not need to be referred elsewhere for it.

Emergency day care, procedures, lab tests, consumables, and pharmacy charges are separate from the base consultation fee and are billed on actuals.
