Core Physiotherapy Service · Yelahanka, North Bangalore
Every treatment plan at Impulse begins here. A structured 45–60 minute evaluation of your posture, movement, strength, flexibility, balance and nerve function — designed to identify the actual cause of your pain, not just the place where you feel it.

Pain rarely starts where it hurts. Knee pain can originate at the hip, shoulder pain at the neck, and recurring low back pain from the way you sit for nine hours a day. Treating the painful site alone gives short-term relief and near-certain recurrence.
A comprehensive physiotherapy assessment is a systematic process of elimination. We take a detailed history, test the region that hurts, test the regions above and below it, screen your nervous system, and watch how you actually move. What emerges is a clinical impression — a working explanation of why this problem started, why it has not settled on its own, and what has to change for it to resolve.
Only then do we build a treatment plan. This is why Impulse does not sell treatment sessions before assessment: the assessment determines whether you need manual therapy, shockwave, spinal decompression, an exercise programme, an ergonomic correction, a medical referral — or a combination.
When the problem started, how it behaves through the day, what makes it better or worse, previous injuries and surgeries, current medication, occupation, sport, sleep position and daily demands.
Location, type (sharp, dull, burning, electric), radiation pattern, night pain, and severity recorded on a standard pain scale so progress can be measured objectively.
Standing, sitting and dynamic posture assessed from front, side and back — spinal curves, pelvic alignment, shoulder and scapular position, head-forward posture, leg length and foot alignment.
Active and passive joint range measured with a goniometer where clinically relevant, compared against the opposite side and normal reference values.
Manual muscle testing graded on the standard 0–5 scale, plus assessment of tightness in commonly shortened muscle groups.
Validated clinical tests specific to your suspected diagnosis — including shoulder, knee, impingement, instability and straight leg raise tests where relevant.
Reflexes, sensation, motor power and nerve tension tests to determine whether a nerve root or peripheral nerve is involved and whether onward medical referral is required.
How you walk, weight-shift, turn, climb stairs and stand on one leg. Formal balance testing is used where balance is a primary concern.
The specific movements that matter to you — squatting, lifting, overhead reach, getting off the floor, a bowling action, carrying a child, or sitting through a workday.
Workstation setup, driving position, sleeping posture, footwear and activity load, with detailed ergonomic assessment recommended where appropriate.
Screening for signs that require medical rather than physiotherapy management, including unexplained weight loss, night pain, fever, bladder or bowel changes, progressive weakness, cancer history or recent significant trauma.
X-rays, MRI, CT, ultrasound reports, surgical notes and previous physiotherapy records are reviewed. On-site X-ray and ultrasound are available; CT and MRI are arranged through partner imaging centres.

A plain-language explanation of what is going on and why.
Which techniques and technologies will be used, and why each was chosen.
An estimated number of sessions and expected timeline for meaningful change.
A small number of specific exercises, demonstrated and corrected in the room.
What to continue, what to modify, and what to avoid for now.
When we will formally reassess and adjust the plan.
To Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Paediatricians, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, or an external specialist.
Objective outcome measures recorded at the first visit — range of motion, strength grades, pain scores, walking speed, functional scores — are repeated at review so improvement is demonstrated with numbers rather than impressions.

Common questions about Comprehensive Physiotherapy Assessment at Impulse Physiotherapy, Yelahanka.
It is a structured clinical evaluation of your posture, movement, joint range, muscle strength, flexibility, balance and nerve function, combined with a detailed history, carried out before any treatment begins. Its purpose is to identify the root cause of your problem and build a treatment plan around it.
The general physiotherapy consultation and assessment fee is ₹400. Two specialised assessments are priced separately — balance and gait assessment and ergonomic assessment are ₹700 each. In every case the assessment fee is adjusted against your treatment and waived entirely once you start a treatment package.
Between 45 and 60 minutes. Complex or multi-region problems may take slightly longer.
No. You can book a physiotherapy assessment directly. Patients already under the care of an Anand Abhigyan doctor can also be referred internally, and we accept referrals from other hospitals, surgeons, physicians and sports doctors.
Yes. You are welcome to walk in during clinic hours, though calling or messaging 8009537637%20953-7637) on WhatsApp beforehand reduces waiting time.
All previous medical records relevant to the problem — X-rays, MRI or CT scans and reports, ultrasound reports, surgical notes, prescriptions and earlier physiotherapy records. These directly influence the treatment plan.
Loose, comfortable clothing that allows free movement and easy access to the area being assessed. Shorts are useful for knee, hip or ankle problems. Women patients often find a salwar kurta most comfortable. Bring your regular walking footwear.
Usually yes. If the assessment is clear and there are no contraindications, treatment typically begins in the same visit. Occasionally we may wait for an investigation result or a medical opinion first.
Some tests deliberately reproduce your symptoms — that is how we confirm which structure is involved. Any discomfort is brief and controlled, and you can stop any test at any point.
X-ray and ultrasound are available on site at Anand Abhigyan. CT and MRI are arranged through partner imaging centres when required.
That is one of the purposes of the assessment. If your findings point to a medical, surgical or neurological cause, we say so and refer you to the appropriate specialist — internally where possible.
This is decided after the assessment, based on your diagnosis, how long the problem has been present and your goals. In most cases meaningful results are seen with seven days of continuous therapy, though some conditions need considerably more.
Yes. Paediatric assessment is adapted to the child's age and is largely play-based for younger children. Written parent or guardian consent is required. See Pediatric Physiotherapy.
Yes. Where multiple problems coexist, we build one integrated plan rather than treating each condition separately. See Geriatric Rehabilitation.
Yes, on request. Please mention it when booking so we can allocate accordingly.
Yes. Separate cubicles are available for all assessments and therapies that require privacy.
Yes, home visits are available. Home visit charges are higher than clinic charges, reflecting therapist travel time. Note that certain equipment-based tests can only be performed at the centre.
Standardised, condition-appropriate measures — pain scales, goniometric range of motion, manual muscle testing grades, functional questionnaires and, where relevant, timed walking and balance tests. These are repeated at review to measure progress objectively.
Yes. A formal review is carried out at the end of the treatment plan, and interim reassessments happen whenever progress differs from what was expected.
Red flags are signs that a problem may have a serious medical cause rather than a mechanical one — for example unexplained weight loss, fever, constant night pain, progressive weakness, or bladder and bowel changes. Screening for them at the first visit ensures nothing serious is treated as a simple muscle problem.
Very often yes. Scan findings are common in people with no symptoms at all, so treatment is guided by your clinical examination and function, not by the report alone. The assessment establishes how much of your pain the scan finding actually explains.
We do not offer cashless insurance billing. Treatment is paid directly, and we provide itemised bills with a case sheet containing full clinical notes prepared to meet insurer documentation requirements, which supports reimbursement claims.

Yes. Many patients come for a physiotherapy opinion on whether a structured rehabilitation trial is reasonable before deciding on surgery. We coordinate with your treating surgeon and will not contradict a clear surgical indication.
